OutdoorCalc Editorial Team

A small editorial team building plain-English estimators for U.S. homeowners. We show the assumptions, the range, and the limits.

What we do

We turn published material prices, contractor labor ranges, and project formulas into calculators and cost guides. The goal is a realistic number you can use to compare bids — not a lead form that hides the price.

Every calculator runs in your browser. We do not ask for an email, phone number, or project address to show a result.

How we research

  1. Start with an industry association or public data source for the method, yield, or labor benchmark.
  2. Cross-check the price range against at least one published cost guide and one retailer or supplier listing.
  3. Turn the range into a low/high band and show the assumptions on the page.
  4. Review quarterly, and update the review date when a range changes.

Editorial standards

  • We label planning estimates as planning estimates.
  • We link to the source categories used for each calculator.
  • We correct errors when a reader or a source shows us we are wrong.
  • We do not sell rankings, reviews, or do-follow links.

What we are not

We are not contractors, engineers, or attorneys. The calculators are planning tools, not bids, structural advice, or permit approvals. Always confirm local codes and site conditions with a qualified professional.
